The Summer to Autumn Fashion Transition
In other words, its transition season. The time of year where it’s still warm, but you can be caught up in the rain unexpectedly. The time of year where wearing your fave summer dress doesn’t feel right but getting your winter coat out isn’t acceptable yet.
At the first sight of autumn, it can be tempting to buy an entire new wardrobe and swap your bright colours for a neutral colour palette. However, at this time, it’s important to consider what items in your wardrobe can be given a repurpose for cooler weather. The trick is to invest in some staple pieces which can either be worn on their own or layered over pieces you already have in your wardrobe so don’t say bye to your fave summer dress just yet!
So because we’re super savvy shoppers we’ve come up with four autumn essentials to invest in, guaranteed to see you through from summer to autumn. We’ve included favourites from our own collection and what we would style them with, sure to give you some serious autumn outfit inspiration.
A skirt is an item that everyone probably has in their summer wardrobe. Give your new Gingham Mini Skirt a new look for autumn and pair it with an oversized chunky knit and a pair of ankle boots. Or, don’t say goodbye to your summer midi skirt – instead swap your sandals with trainers and pair with an oversized knit.
You may already have a jumpsuit in your summer wardrobe – a staple for uncertain British weather. Sleeveless, cropped, wide leg or dungaree,
a jumpsuit is sure to see you from summer to autumn. We’ve chosen a Black Double Layer Lounge Jumpsuit, a piece guaranteed to go with everything. Swap sandals for trainers and throw on a long sleeve jumper underneath to last you through until winter.
Knitwear is a staple for any autumn wardrobe. As well as keeping you warm, a jumper can revive a summer outfit. Whether it be a turtleneck,
chunky or thin knit, they are so easy to wear. Simply throw over or under a dress or pair with your fave jeans for an effortless look. Or, why not mix it up with a knitted midi dress or a pair of Knitted Culottes like we’ve chosen.
Although it might not be time to bring out the winter coat just yet, it’s the perfect time of year to wear a lightweight jacket. Why not make a statement in a
trench coat or dress up your outfit with a Satin Duster? Or give your outfit a sporty vibe with a bomber or track jacket.
Who said shopping in August can’t be fun?
